Things You’ll Need For The Setup
In order to set up your wireless network, you’ll need some equipment:
- Ethernet cable(s),
- Computer system with an installed TCP/IP service and compatible web browser.
Apart from the equipment mentioned, you’ll need access to the default login settings including the web address/IP address and the login credentials. These details can be located on the product label of the device, or in the user manual.
Beginning With The Asus RT-AX92U Setup
Before you begin with the Asus router setup, you’ll need to connect your computer or smartphone device to the router network. You can use a wired or a wireless connection for the same. If you intend to go with a wired connection, you can use an ethernet cable to connect the LAN port of the router to the ethernet port on your computer. On the other hand, you can use a Wi-Fi connection to connect the devices wirelessly. Launch the WiFi Settings on your computer/smartphone and look for the available wireless networks. Select the network SSID that corresponds to the router and then click on the Connect button.
After the devices have connected, you can begin with the login procedure using the steps that follow:
- Use a web browser on your connected computer/wireless device and in the address bar, type http://router.asus.com and press Enter. If the web address doesn’t pull up a webpage, you can use the IP address 192.168.0.1 instead.
- The browser will validate the URL and redirect you to the Asus router login page. You will see the username and password fields become visible on the page.
- Type the default username and password details in their respective fields and then click on the Login button. The default credentials can be found mentioned on the product label of the device. If not, you can also use admin in the username field and password in the password field.
- If you are logging in for a consecutive time after the router has been configured, you can use the credentials as specified during the initial setup.
The login wizard will now validate the credentials and accordingly sign you into the Asus router setup wizard.
Configuring The Network Settings
- On the router setup wizard, select the Wireless tab and go to the Wireless Settings menu.
- In the 2.4GHz network section, type in an SSID for your network and assign a strong password to the same. Select an appropriate network encryption protocol.
- Repeat this step for the 5GHz and 5.1GHz network bands as well. Once you have edited the details, click on the Next button.
- Once you reach the admin setup page, edit the details related to the admin username and password and click on the Next button.
- The setup wizard will now ask you to review the network and device settings you have just configured. Once complete, click on the Save and Finish button and you will be logged out of the setup wizard.
You can now connect your wireless devices and computers to the freshly configured ASUS router network.
